Momma Love | Relax to Do More

In our busy momma lives, we very often forget to slow down & take time for us.  As unbelievable as it sounds, we can accomplish so much more when we take time for us; our bodies & souls are recharged, revitalized & reenergized.

Rejuvenating your soul doesn't take a lot of time out of your day.  Try adding one or all of these ideas to create a balanced life for you & to grow happy, healthy kiddos.

Deep Breathing:

One of the easy & quickest ways (and free, too) to add more energy into your day is through deep, focused breathing.  Your breathing is a powerful, positive way to erase stress from your muscles.  Use it in a focused way as part of your daily routine, or whenever stress creeps up on you.

  1. Close your eyes, if possible.
  2. Breath in slowly through your nose, letting your belly expand, for about 5 to 6 seconds.  Place your hand on your belly to feel it grow.
  3. Gently hold your breath for about 3 to 4 seconds.
  4. Then very slowly and gently, breath out for about 5 to 6 seconds.
  5. Try to take 4 to 5 more deep breaths while trying to extend the seconds you breath in, hold & breath out.

Imagine your breath filling your lungs as your belly expands.  Imagine all the stress in your muscles & soul exiting your lungs as you breath out.


I love practicing yoga; although, as a busy momma, I'm not always able to carve out 10 to 20 minutes or more without the kiddos nearby.  Yoga combines focused breathing with physical movement to center yourself both body & mind.

There are plenty of free apps, like my favorite yoga program, Simply Yoga.  This is the routine I use from my MacBook.  I tote my laptop with me as I travel so I can do this routine in any hotel room.

Another proven way to relax & destress is to incorporate plant extracts into your daily life through massage, breathing, or in a bath.  The easiest way to use plant extracts is through essential oils.  I use essential oils every day by wearing diffuser bracelets & necklaces as well as running a scent diffuser that spreads its empowering & feel-goodness vibes throughout my studio & our home.

You may also want to use candles that contain natural, plant extracts rather than a chemical scent reproduction.  One of my favorite quick essential oil sprays is this Chakra Spray made by From Molly With Love.
